Waiting for the “Golden Cross of the Stage” event (March 27)

On the occasion of World Theatre Day, we bestow “Golden Cross of the Stage” awards to the most prominent creators of theatre. Every year this solemn ceremony is held in a different theatre, and this year, we – the National Kaunas  Drama  Theater – have the great honor of becoming the home of this beautiful celebration. This event is organized by our friends Kaunas State  Puppet theatre and  Kaunas State Musical theatre.  The event will be held on the 27 of March at 9 P.M.   

An impressive evening is organized together with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania and National Broadcaster LRT. Grand show is directed by Andrius Žiurauskas.

On the 9 March, the Commission of The Golden Cross of the Stage announced the names of theater artists who created the most memorable works in 2021 and have been nominated for the most important award of the Lithuanian theater.

15 nominations are published – the best directing, the role of a man and a woman, etc. Also, there is director‘s Borisas Dauguvietis earring for the young artist and a Golden Cross- thank-you prize for the lifetime merit to the theater master.

National Kaunas Drama Theater productions of 2021 have been nominated for the Golden Cross of the Stage in 4 categories:

Best actorDainius Svobonas for the role of Peer Gynt in a play „Peer Gynt“ by H. Ibsen ( director C. Polgar),  Sigitas Šidlauskas for the role of Donald in a play „Summer wasps bite us even in November“  by Ivan Vyrypaev (director Nino Maglakelidze),

Best set design –  Lili Izsák for the set design of the play „Peer Gynt“ by H. Ibsen ( director C. Polgar),

Best supporting actor/actress – Eglė Mikulionytė for the role in a play „Peer Gynt“ by H. Ibsen ( director C. Polgar),

 Theatre for children and youth – the team of a play „The one and only Emil” directed by Augustas Gornatkevičius.
