“Seven Solitudes” to Participate in the International Theatre Festival “TheATRIUM”
On May 20, the tenth anniversary edition of the theatre festival “TheATRIUM” will begin in Klaipėda and run until June 18. The festival consists of two parts – the Lithuanian Theatre Showcase and the international programme.
The Lithuanian Theatre Showcase was initiated as a networking platform presenting the works of Lithuanian theatre makers to international theatre professionals, but since its inception, it has also become highly anticipated by local audiences.
This year’s Lithuanian programme includes the National Kaunas Drama Theatre production “Seven Solitudes” based on texts by Oskar Milosz (directed by Robert Wilson and Charles Chemin). By special arrangement, the performance will take place on the NKDT stage in Kaunas, with audiences and international festival guests travelling from Klaipėda to attend it.
“Seven Solitudes” is a poetic journey through the works of Oskar Milosz and the theatrical imagination of Robert Wilson. The performance combines Milosz’s poetry, prose, and fairy tales with his more dramatic and metaphysical texts, exploring love, solitude, death, the endless search for light and harmony, and raising profound existential questions about humanity, its place in the universe, and the passage of time.
Milosz’s extraordinary imaginative world comes alive on stage through Wilson’s poetic vision, restless abstractions, and distinctive visual language.
The performance will be presented in Lithuanian with English surtitles. Tickets for this performance are already sold out.
