Gytis Padegimas was born in 1952, Kaunas. In 1975, he graduated from the Lunacharsky State Institute for Theatre Arts (GITIS) in Moscow. From 1975 to 1980 he worked as a director in Vilnius Junior Theater, from 1980 to 1986 he was a director in the Kaunas Drama Theater and senior director in Šiauliai Drama Theater in from 1988 to 1993. From 1993 to 1999 he worked in the position of director in the Kaunas State Drama Theater. He was teaching in Vytautas Magnus University, now teaches in Klaipėda University. He is GITIS Scandinavia (Denmark) associate professor. Has created more than 100 theater and television plays.
